This breakout will survey the intersection between theology, trauma, and resilience. It will assess the differences between trauma-producing practices, trauma-reducing practices, and trauma-healing practices at work within a religious community.

About the Presenter

Fred is a follower of Jesus, pastor with Williamsburg Christian Church, founder and co-executive director with 3e Restoration Inc, co-owner of Philoxenia Culture, contextual theologian, clinical trauma professional, S.T.A.R. practitioner (Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience), ethnographer, TEDx alum, and coffee drinker.

He’s an adjunct professor at Rochester University and The College of William & Mary where he teach courses in philosophy, ethics, christian history, theology, leadership, and ethnography.

Fred serves on the Advisory Board of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, Bacon Street Youth and Family Services, and FreeKind. In addition to the board for 3e Restoration, he is a founding board member and trainer with the Virginia Racial Healing Institute and a member of the Greater Williamsburg Trauma-Informed Community Network.
