Session Details
While the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) study has received much attention, the Positive Childhood Experiences (PaCEs) studies are less known. This session reviews the ACEs study and explores how positive childhood experiences and support can counterbalance the effects of trauma. The curriculum explains the neuroscience of resilience and the caregiver's role in fostering it.
About the Presenter
Barbara Stewart is founder and Executive Director of Made 4 Connection, a non-profit dedicated to helping individuals and families impacted by relational trauma. She teaches and coaches TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) and is passionate about helping kids “from hard places” by helping their caregivers develop more skills and add to their relational toolbelts. Barbara works with foster and adoptive parents, kinship care givers, teachers, social workers, court personnel—anyone who cares for children impacted by trauma. She is now broadening her scope of services to families of origin with the Making Sense of Your Worth and Parenting for Positive Self Worth programs, curriculums that help teens and adults heal from their relational wounds. Every child, every adult, needs to feel seen, heard and valued. She wants to help people see their value and heal from the trauma that stole that from them.
