This breakout will introduce the evidence-based concepts of collective trauma. It will survey the societal impact of the legacies and aftermath of historical harms in racialized trauma, the impact of cultural harms and violence, the impact of structural and political harms and violence, and the impact of pandemics.

About the Presenter

Fred is a follower of Jesus, pastor with Williamsburg Christian Church, founder and co-executive director with 3e Restoration Inc, co-owner of Philoxenia Culture, contextual theologian, clinical trauma professional, S.T.A.R. practitioner (Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience), ethnographer, TEDx alum, and coffee drinker.

He’s an adjunct professor at Rochester University and The College of William & Mary where he teach courses in philosophy, ethics, christian history, theology, leadership, and ethnography.

Fred serves on the Advisory Board of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center, Bacon Street Youth and Family Services, and FreeKind. In addition to the board for 3e Restoration, he is a founding board member and trainer with the Virginia Racial Healing Institute and a member of the Greater Williamsburg Trauma-Informed Community Network.
